All academic programs (including certificates) at UND are expected to have an articulated plan to assess student learning outcomes.
UND documents assessment activities with clarity and in a way that demonstrates continuity and consistency, and using the results of assessment to improve student learning.
Assessment Plans are in-depth descriptions that outline program’s mission, outcomes, how outcomes are measured, targets for success, and a calendar of when outcomes are to be assessed. The plan is an intentionally developed sequence of activities that ensures coherence from program planning through implementation. (i.e. Looking ahead, what the program is PLANNING on assessing that year).
Submitting Assessment Plans
Assessment Plans are to be submitted in the Taskstream repository system and should be updated as necessary (ideally, every 5-7 years).
Annual Assessment Reports (also called Assessment Findings) are due each year and contain a listing of outcomes that were assessed during the previous year, targets for success for the identified outcomes, data and findings related to each assessed outcome and by method, action plans if the targets are not met, and activities that support continuous program improvement and closing the loop.
Submitting Assessment Reports
The department report and findings for the annual assessment activities will also be submitted in Taskstream. These submissions are due by October 15th.
Assessment Review Process
Each year, the University Assessment Committee reviews a sampling of academic and co-curricular programs at UND. This process ensures that each program is reviewed at least once every five years by a team of peers. The assessment schedule can be found in the University Assessment Plan.
