2019 Holiday Update
A Message to Students, Faculty, and Staff
As we close out another year, I find myself reflecting on the progress made in 2019. While a detailed list of IT accomplishments is available on the One IT Strategic Plan website, I want to bring special attention to our cybersecurity efforts. Since implementing multi-factor authentication in Office 365, we have had zero reported compromised accounts. Additionally, the ongoing cybersecurity campaign shows that, on average, 90% of the UND community don’t fall for phishing emails. The national average for similar campaigns is 70%. Kudos to our UND family for keeping UND cyber safe!
In 2020, we will continue to focus on improving the user experience. We will continue to upgrade both wireless and hardwired networks, understanding that our users have multiple devices and require increased bandwidth. Over the winter break, we will be migrating to a new wireless onboarding solution to provide a better user experience. The upgrade will require you to re-authenticate upon your return from the winter break. Another project that we will be undertaking is the implementation of a campus portal. A campus portal will allow us to access important information without having to log into multiple applications. We will also work on standardizing classroom technology to ensure that our faculty and students have a better teaching and learning experience. As with 2019, we have many projects planned for 2020, including a twice a year full-day event to showcase some of the software products we support and how to streamline these products for efficiencies.
Congratulations to all the winter 2019 graduates, and good luck to our students taking finals.
From the University Information Technology team, we wish our students, faculty, and staff a wonderful holiday season and best wishes for the coming year.
