Biography
Dr. Alexander Chakhmakhchev is a Principal Scientist at the EERC, where he leads projects and research work in the areas of enhanced oil recovery, production optimization, geochemical solutions, and environmental protection. Dr. Chakhmakhchev is a geoscientist with over 20 years of experience in the international petroleum industry. He has significant industry and academic expertise in geoscience and applying the results to petroleum exploration efforts, field development, production optimization, and problem solving in various geologic settings. Prior to his position at the EERC, Dr. Chakhmakhchev served as a Senior Data Scientist with Applied Chem Data and Principal Geochemist with SGS Oil, Gas, and Chemical Services, The Woodlands, Texas. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Petroleum Geochemistry from the All-Russia Research Institute for Geological, Geochemical, and Geophysical Information Systems, Moscow, and a M.S. degree in Petroleum Geology from Moscow State University. Dr. Chakhmakhchev’s principal areas of interest and expertise include applied petroleum geochemistry, advanced analytics, and big data technology. He is a member of the European Association of Organic Geochemists, American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), and Japanese Association for Petroleum Technology and serves as a reviewer for AAPG and the journal Organic Geochemistry. He has published over 20 research papers and four technical reports in leading international journals and participated in tradeshows and conventions, including AAPG, World Petroleum Congress, SPE, IHS Regional Roundtables, and NAPE.
