Biography
Dr. Abdelmalek Bellal is a research engineer with the Center for Process Engineering Research (CPER), focusing on the execution of projects with a large process engineering, TEA and experimental focus. Dr. Bellal received his second Ph.D. in Energy Engineering from the University of North Dakota (2021-2023) and his first Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Ferhat Abbas, Algeria (2017-2021). He also holds a M.S. degree in Petrochemistry and a B.S. degree in Oil Refining, both from the University of Skikda, Algeria. In his current role, Dr. Bellal leads the development of research data for various projects. His expertise includes conducting techno-economic feasibility studies, creating process flow diagrams, and performing material and energy balances. He plays a critical role as the key modeler for the Pre-Front End Engineering Design (FEED) study of methane plasma pyrolysis unit (FE0032234). Also, Dr. Bellal served as a key technical operator of a coal processing pilot plant for the extraction of rare earth elements (FE0031835). His expertise lies in clean energy technologies, focusing on CO2 capture, gas flaring mitigation, and clean fuel production. As a co-inventor of a novel CO2 adsorbent, Dr. Bellal has been instrumental in advancing innovative solutions for carbon capture and sustainable energy. His research is widely published in scientific journals, reflecting his proficiency in energy engineering and chemical process development.
