Biography
My education and experiences have led me to work primarily in mental health and academics. I worked inpatient psychiatry for five years, followed by 14 years of outpatient clinical social work. At present, I share my time between private clinical social work practice and teaching at UND, where I have had the pleasure of teaching since 2006. Professional interest areas include mental health treatment and awareness. Academically, I am interested in how a person's mental health, coping skills, and support systems influence their ability to be successful in and out of the classroom, in relationships, professionally, and personally.
I am active in providing mental health support to first responders through individual work and being part of the Critial Incident Stress Management Team for ND and the Highway Patrol.
