Biography
Dan Laudal is the Executive Director of the UND College of Energineering & Mines Research Institute, where he leads the research enterprise of the College of Engineering & Mines (CEM). Dr. Laudal is also the Director of the Center for Process Engineering Research, a team of multidisciplinary researchers focused on applied research and technology development in areas including energy, mining/mineral processing, materials and others. He is a Research Professor with academic affiliations in the Departments of Chemical Engineering and Energy & Petroleum Engineering. Dr. Laudal's career has focused on energy, with nearly 20 years of combined industry and research experience. His areas of expertise include carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), critical minerals / rare earth elements processing technologies, and advanced energy systems. He has led a wide array of projects funded by the Department of Energy, the State of North Dakota and industry. In a previous role in industry, he was the project development manager for a world-scale CCUS project at a coal plant in central North Dakota.
