Biography
Dr. Daphne E. Pedersen, Chester Fritz Distinguished Professor of Sociology, joined the UND faculty in 2004. A first-generation college student from Salt Lake City, she earned her undergraduate (B.S., Sociology, University of Utah) and doctoral degrees (Ph.D., Sociology, Utah State University) in Utah, and master’s degree (M.A., Sociology, Minnesota State University – Mankato) in Minnesota. She later earned a master's of public health (M.P.H.) with a specialization in health management and policy. Her research focuses on gender, the sociology of health, and how work and stress processes shape individual well-being - including among university students and faculty. Dr. Pedersen currently serves as Associate Dean in the College of Arts & Sciences, focusing primarily on faculty affairs.
