Biography
Ertan Ozturk got his MS and PhD degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), Chicago. During his PhD study, he worked as a teaching assistant and a part-time Instructor at IIT and at Devry University. Then, he was hired as a Senior System Engineer for RF capacity and performance engineering by Motorola located at Arlington Heights, IL. After completing his PhD at the end of 2001, Dr. Ozturk started to work as a faculty member in the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Bulent Ecevit University, Turkey until 2016. In the same department, he served as the department chair for six years. From 2017 to 2022, Dr. Ozturk worked as a technical leader of an embedded software and hardware team to develop and manufacture a patient monitor system at ERETNA Technology located in Istanbul. ERETNA patient monitor has recently been using in 20 different hospitals in Turkey.
His research has been in the field of Communication Theory and Wireless Communications. Dr. Ozturk published about 40 peer-reviewed Journal and Conference papers, also he supervised 12 Master and 2 PhD Dissertation in the area of Wireless Communications. He took the role of Principle Investigator for several research projects. Dr. Ozturk has taught more than 15 different Undergraduate and Graduate courses the area of Electrical and Computer Engineering for the past 20 years. His recent research interest are on developing state of art patient monitoring system, and physical layer security techniques for wireless networks, by using machine learning algorithms. Dr. Ozturk has been with UND since August 2022.
