Biography
Professor Kimberly Dasse is an Assistant Professor of Law, where she teaches courses in Lawyering Skills and Transactional Drafting. Her dedication to enriching the educational experience extends beyond the classroom; she is actively involved in study abroad programming and will lead a group of students to Japan for an immersive two-week program in Summer 2025.
Her research interests are diverse and interdisciplinary, encompassing women’s rights, toxic law firm cultures, innovative teaching pedagogies, international law, wellness, and global ethics. Professor Dasse’s scholarly work contributes significantly to these fields and informs her approach to teaching and professional practice.
Professor Dasse also serves on several key committees within the law faculty, including the Strategic Planning & Budget, Faculty Selection, and the IDDEA Committees. She also represents the law school on the University Senate and University Council for Women+. She also co-chairs the Faculty Mental Health Group. Her engagement with professional organizations includes active participation in the Legal Writing Institute’s Site Committee for their 2026 convention and the Global Lawyering Committee.
Before transitioning to academia, Professor Dasse accumulated substantial legal and teaching experience in China where she lived for fifteen years. She passed the Hong Kong Overseas Lawyers Qualification Examination and was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors, focusing her practice on matrimonial issues involving cross-jurisdictional clients. Additionally, she served as an instructor at The Law Society of Hong Kong, teaching courses such as Anti-Money Laundering, Fraud Prevention, and Conflicts & Confidentiality.
In the United States, Professor Dasse was licensed to practice law in New York and has held the position of Assistant Attorney General, where she represented the State in federal and state courts. Her legal career began with a clerkship for the Honorable Thomas J. Aquilino, Jr., at the United States Court of International Trade.
With a rich background in both practice and academia, Professor Dasse brings a global perspective and a wealth of experience to her students at UND.
