Biography
Dr. Lewis Robert James Archer is an adjunct instructor at the University of North Dakota's (UND) John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences. Lewis has prior experience as an assistant professor of aviation, chief ground instructor, airline pilot, turbine flight instructor, and check airman. He has operated various aircraft including the Bombardier/DeHavilland Canada Dash-8-100 and Dash-8-300, Beechcraft King Air C90GTi, and Pilatus PC-12. Lewis is currently employed as a Bombardier Challenger 350 first officer at NetJets, the world's largest fractional aviation operator.
Lewis is a three-time UND graduate, possessing a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics, a Master of Science in Aviation, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Practice and Leadership. His aeronautical qualifications include an Airline Transport Pilot certificate with multiengine land, DHC-8 and CL30 type ratings, and a Flight Instructor certificate with single-engine, multiengine, and instrument ratings. Lewis has been published in various peer-reviewed academic journals, textbooks, and aviation periodicals.
A native of Norfolk, UK, Lewis currently resides in Grand Forks, ND with his wife, two children, and goldendoodle. In his free time, Lewis enjoys researching aviation history, attending UND hockey games, and building scale-model aircraft.
