Biography
Meghan Benzing holds a Master's of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University and is currently Licensed in the state of North Dakota as an Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC). Meghan has been serving students at the University of North Dakota's counseling center since 2022. Her therapuetic approach draws from a variety of treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as well as person centered, and strengths based counseling. Meghan has had training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) as well as cognitive behavioral therapy for suicide prevention. She is mindful of adapting her approach to meet the unique, and important needs of each student she works with.
Meghan believes in the importance of fostering a nonjudgmental, kind, and understanding space while facing discomfort to support personal growth. She will help guide development of personal goals, and hold space for exploration of thoughts, emotions, and challenging experiences of past and present. Meghan aims to ensure that in moments of difficulty every client knows they have worth and value in who they are, have the ability to strengthen coping skills and neutralize distress, and have the capacity to live a meaningful life.
