Biography
Michael Soward is a dedicated and compassionate therapist with extensive experience helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges. He is deeply committed to promoting mental wellness through evidence-based therapeutic techniques and a person-centered approach. With expertise in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, and mindfulness-based interventions, Michael has worked with a diverse range of clients addressing concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, relationship difficulties, and personal growth.
For clients who so desire, Michael also integrates a faith-based perspective into therapy, drawing on spiritual principles and scriptures to support healing, meaning-making, and resilience.
Michael holds a master’s degree and doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Western Kentucky University, and he has earned certifications in psychological testing and trauma therapy and has completed advanced training in CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and strengths-based approaches.
As a therapist, Michael is recognized for his empathetic and nonjudgmental style, creating a safe and confidential environment where clients feel heard, understood, and supported. In addition to individual therapy, he provides couples counseling with an emphasis on communication skills, conflict resolution, and emotional intimacy. Michael Michael has also facilitated therapy groups for individuals managing addiction, grief, and chronic stress.
Outside of his professional work, Michael is an active advocate for mental health awareness and participates in community outreach initiatives aimed at reducing stigma and improving access to mental health resources. In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities, motorcycles and long distance travel by motorcycle, basketball, discgolf, and spending time withhis family.
