Biography
Dr. Sandra Moritz was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Calgary. She then moved to London, Ontario and completed a Master of Arts degree in Kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario. From there, she moved to the United States and attended Michigan State University for 4 years, earning her PhD in Physical Education and Exercise Science. After a short period at the University of Rhode Island, she came to UND as an Assistant Professor in 1999. She was promoted to Associate Professor and tenured in 2002, and promoted to Professor in 2007.
Dr. Moritz has published over 60 articles and book chapters, and has participated in 150 presentations. Her book: "Self Efficacy in Sport" was published in 2008. Her work has been featured in popular press like Oxygen magazine, Women's Health, Current Health, Prevention, and she has been quoted in several major newspapers and television.
She has received several achievement awards, scholarships and fellowships.
She is the very proud mother of two boys who are both students at UND, Stoker (BBA, currently MBA) and Brecken (BBA). In her spare time, Dr. Moritz is a step counter and she's always up for a game of bags (cornhole).
