Biography
Dr. Sosthène Siyou is a teaching assistant professor in the Master of Public Health (MPH) Program at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine & Health Sciences (SMHS). He has extensive experience in teaching public health-related courses at post-secondary institutions in the United States. He earned a doctorate in health education from A.T. Still University of Health Sciences, a Master of Science in food and nutrition from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a graduate diploma of advanced studies in rural sociology, a master's degree in agronomic engineering, and a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from public universities in Cameroon (Yaoundé 1 & Dschang).
Dr. Siyou also held management and leadership positions in food and public health-related organizations in the United States and abroad; He developed and implemented food safety policies and led the building of a strong food safety culture in several food industries, ultimately contributing to preventing foodborne diseases in the United States. He worked with several research and health promotion organizations, to develop and implement public health research projects and programs, aiming to reduce the prevalence of sexually transmitted infections and the associated psychosocial stigmas in Africa. His current research interest is in public health policy and diet-related diseases in minority groups.
