COURSES TAUGHT:

• NURS 514 Essentials in Epidemiology- Focuses on the distribution and determinants of health and disease states in populations. Explores the application of epidemiological methods to control health problems and improve public health outcomes.
• NURS 538 Psych Diagnostic Reasoning- This course prepares students for advanced therapeutic communication, interviewing, and assessment of people with mental illness across the life span. Skills are developed in differential diagnoses of psychopathology within the scope and standards of advanced psychiatric mental health nursing practice. Clinical application is included.
• NURS 564 Psychopharmacology- This course provides the advanced practice student with knowledge in the pharmacology of psychopathology across the life span. Emphasis will be placed on prescriptive practice, pharmacological science and therapeutic application of medications for psychiatric symptoms.
• NURS 582 Applied Univariate Statistics for Nursing Professionals- The course provides students with an opportunity to understand the principles, assumptions, and applications of major univariate statistical techniques commonly used in nursing and clinical health research.
• NURS 583 Individual Therapy- Provides knowledge and skill development in the implementation of evidence-based clinical therapies and treatments focused on the individual, including cultural variations.
• NURS 584 Group and Family Therapies- Focuses on the implementation of evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions with families and diverse groups, incorporating theoretical models alongside clinical implementation.
• NURS 587 Population Health- Focuses on the synthesis of epidemiological, environmental, and sociocultural data to analyze health trends, promote wellness, and design clinical interventions aimed at improving outcomes across diverse populations.
• NURS 588 Management of Psychopathology I- The first of a two-course sequence focusing on the psychiatric management of individuals across the lifespan, groups, and families with or affected by psychopathology. Emphasizes continuity of care across community and healthcare settings.
