Biography
Zahra Finnigan works within diverse teams of scientists and engineers to assess and manage project uncertainties in carbon capture and storage, geologic CO₂ storage, and responsible energy development.
As a Senior Geoscience Risk Specialist at the EERC, Finnigan supports risk assessment and risk management activities for CCS projects across the United States, including commercial storage projects, CarbonSAFE Initiative storage projects, and the Plains CO₂ Reduction Partnership. Finnigan's work integrates technical guidance, regulatory requirements, financial incentives, and industry best practices to help advance safe, practical, and scalable carbon storage.
Areas of expertise include CCS risk assessment and management, geologic characterization, geologic modeling and mapping, deep saline formation CO₂ storage, Class VI well permitting, cartography, field operations, regional and reservoir characterization, core analysis, CO₂ EOR and ROZ, and geophysical data interpretation.
