Biography
Dr. Ersan is a Teaching Assistant Professor in the College of Engineering and Mines. Prior to this role, she served as an Assistant Research Professor and American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) eFellow in the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment (SSEBE) at Arizona State University.
She received her Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering in 2014 from Istanbul University, Turkey. During her doctoral studies, she was awarded an "Overseas Graduate Scholarship" by the Turkish National Science Foundation (NSF) and worked as a visiting researcher at Clemson University, U.S. Following her graduation, she received a grant fellowship from the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey and returned to Clemson University as a postdoctoral researcher. After a period of parental leave, she resumed her research career as a postdoctoral researcher in SSEBE at ASU, where she was later awarded the ASEE eFellowship, funded by the NSF.
Dr. Ersan is an expert in adsorption and Linear Solvation Energy Relationship (LSER) modeling of various conventional and novel carbon-based nanomaterials. As a faculty member at the University of North Dakota, her current research focuses on developing novel hybrid electrochemical processes for regenerating PFAS-laden carbon-based adsorbents and using machine learning to predict adsorption efficiency on nanomaterials.
She is a mother of two, and in her free time, she enjoys cycling and camping.
