Biography
Dr. Manuela Gabriel currently serves as the Director of the International Center and as the Co-Chair of the Intercultural Advisory Council for the New American Corner at the City of Grand Forks.
Her core area of expertise is Intercultural Competency and International Student Affairs.
Gabriel earned a Ph.D. in International and Intercultural Studies from University of Deusto (Spain), an M.A. in Intercultural Mediation from University of Sherbrooke (Canada) and a B.A. in Modern Languages from Bishop’s University (Canada). Licensed as a qualified administrator to use the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), Gabriel has been a consultant to many universities, private businesses, and other organizations. She has provided professional development, intercultural competency and cross-cultural training widely throughout the United States, Latin America, and Europe, as well as assisted different institutions with strategic plans to develop, foster or strengthen their intercultural competency as well as their retention, inclusion and belonging initiatives.
She is proficient in four languages: English, Spanish, French and Italian (native)
