Biography
Dr. Montel Williams is currently a Post-Doctoral Research Associate with the Research Institute for Autonomous Systems (RIAS) at the University of North Dakota (UND). His research history focuses on the impacts and influences of stress, cognitive functioning, the variability of personalities and the foundations of sociability and integration. During his enrollment at Virginia State University, Dr. Williams lead the Cardiovascular Laboratory under the mentorship of Dr. Vernessa R. Clark. There, he lead and taught multiple undergraduate and graduate students throughout their own enrollment and supported them in their research and academic aspirations. As the project manager of the laboratory, he conducted and lead several studies regarding stress, dieting, personality, cardiovascular reactivity, substance use, and cognitive functioning over the 10 years he was there. He's also been employed as an assistant to a private practice for Dr. Vivian Begali, a neuropsychologist. As assistant to Dr. Begali, Dr. Williams assessed and evaluated clients seeking psychological assistance required in their legal cases. Here, he was privy to and managed numerous assessments and information regarding cognition, memory, psychological disorders, aging, and autism. He is still a consultant to projects and other associates in, and out of, VSU even after graduation. Dr. Williams possesses a Doctorate of Philosophy in Behavioral and Community Health Sciences, a Master's in Science with a focus on General Psychology, and a Bachelor's in Psychology. He's gained two publications before his graduation, with several dozen co-authorship on presentations. With his addition to the RIAS team, Dr. Williams plans on bringing his decade of leadership, research, mediation and support to both the new generation of students and the administration and its veterans.
