Biography

Moones Alamooti is a faculty member in the Department of Energy and Petroleum Engineering in the College of Engineering and Mines at the University of North Dakota. She holds a Ph.D. in Geophysics and an M.Sc. in Energy Engineering from UND.

Dr. Alamooti’s research spans geothermal systems, borehole battery technology, renewable energy integration and optimization. Her work combines geophysical imaging, geomechanical modeling, and system dynamics to advance geothermal resource development, enhance subsurface energy storage, and optimize hybrid renewable energy systems. She emphasizes data-driven and interdisciplinary approaches to improve the resilience, efficiency, and sustainability of modern energy infrastructures.

She has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications, presented at national and international conferences, and mentored award-winning student research teams in Department of Energy–sponsored geothermal competitions. Her academic mission is to drive energy innovation through research, teaching, and collaborative scholarship.
