Biography
Nicole received her Masters of Arts in Art History degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2003. She specializes in feminist, modern, and non-Western art. Nicole received her Masters of Public Administration degree from the University of North Dakota in 2021, and is currently working towards a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership with a specialization in Higher Education.

Nicole serves on the UND Essential Studies Committee, the UND Senate Budget Committee, and the UND Scholarships Committee. She also serves on Departmental committees in the 2022 - 2023 AY. Derenne led students in her advanced art history course on feminist art in curating an exhibition of artwork by the Guerrilla Girls in 2022.
Nicole has served as Commissioner on the Grand Forks Historic Preservation Commission since 2019.
Nicole has served as member of the ArtWise Board of Directors since 2016, and currently serves as vice-president. ArtWise is a nonprofit organization that supports visual arts education at Grand Forks elementary schools.
Nicole has served as a member of Grand Forks Public Library Foundation Board since 2019, and was elected President in 2021. The Grand Forks Public Library Foundation supports Grand Forks Public_ in transforming lives.
