Personal Statement
Andrea holds a professional certification in occupational therapy and is licensed as an occupational therapist in the states of Wyoming and North Dakota. Andrea has served the profession of occupational therapy as a clinician, educator, and lifelong learner. As an occupational therapist in the clinical setting, she utilized evidence-based practice as a guiding tool to serve clients and stakeholder needs. She has continued to do the same in the academic setting for the past eight years. With a rich experience of gathering information about clients and analyzing their valued occupations Andrea has determined an appropriate course of therapy that is purposeful and occupation-based for clients. She has taught students to have a passion for the roots of occupational therapy, focused on occupation, as they learn and grow their confidence and skills in carrying out the occupational therapy process. Andrea has facilitated student learning throughout the curricular experience, fieldwork experiences, and capstone experiences by helping students recognize their strengths. She invests time and effort to help students determine ways in which to integrate personal interests in the learning process, and pursue the broad array of settings and paths that occupational therapy careers have to offer.
