Biography
Sarah Nielsen, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA is currently Professor and Chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy. She earned a B.S. degree in Occupational Therapy, MMGT degree in Management and a PhD in Institutional Analysis and Adult Learning. Prior to joining the faculty full-time in 2011, she worked as an Occupational Therapist primarily in child, adolescent and young adult mental health. Dr. Nielsen has over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults with mental health needs in community and school contexts. Currently, she serves as a trainer for the SAMHSA funded Mountain Plains Mental Health Technology Transfer Center. She is the Vice Chair of the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education. Dr. Nielsen enjoys collaborating with students to improve service delivery in rural and underserved populations.
