I'm interested in understanding human diseases and their pathological mechanisms. During my PhD work, I investigated the molecular mechanisms driving the aggressiveness and chemoresistance of breast and lung cancers. Currently, my research focuses on a broad spectrum of critical topics within clinical and translational sciences, including the implications of environmental factors such as arsenic and cadmium on human diseases, specifically in the development of urothelial bladder and kidney cancers.
Additionally, I'm working on understanding and characterizing kidney progenitor cells, investigating their role in the development of kidney diseases and cancers, and exploring the potential of using kidney progenitors to promote kidney repair after injuries.
