Dr. Bandel's research focuses on improving firearm suicide prevention efforts by increasing our understanding of firearm owners and secure storage interventions. Her work seeks to increase our understanding of what makes secure storage interventions more/less effective. Much of Dr. Bandel's extant research has investigated the impact of broad/public health level approaches to secure firearm storage. Additionally, Dr. Bandel is interested in better understanding characteristics of those who choose to own firearms and how these characteristics may relate to secure storage beliefs and decisions.
