Microsoft 365 Apps

Microsoft 365 Apps is free for current UND students, faculty, and staff.

Microsoft 365 Apps is a full version of Office, which includes Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, Outlook, Skype for Business, and more.

Install Microsoft

Each user can install Microsoft 365 Apps on up to five home or personally-owned PCs/Macs and up to five mobile devices.

For installation assistance, contact UND Tech Support.

PC/Mac

  1. Log into your web mail. Your email login is your NDUS.identifier@NDUS.edu and your password is the same as Campus Connection and Blackboard.
  2. The default home page with show all your apps. Click Install Office in the top right.
  3. Select Microsoft 365 Apps.
  4. Your download will begin and you will be prompted with instructions.
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts and when you are asked to sign in, use your email login and password.

Office Pro Plus Installation Tutorial

For Mac users: If Microsoft 365 Apps does not install with Skype for Business, please visit Microsoft's website to download the application. Skype for Business on Mac requires installation of OSX 10.11 or higher.

Mobile Devices

Office mobile applications are accessible on iPhone and Android phones and automatically included with all Windows phones.

  1. Go to the Microsoft install Microsoft on a mobile device page.
  2. Choose your mobile device.
  3. Choose the apps you want to set up.
  4. Follow the step-by-step instructions.

Microsoft Office Features

Many Office applications are available to work with online. This allows users to work on projects on any computer as long as there is an Internet connection and without installing the program.

After logging into your UND email through the web portal select the App Launcher on the top left corner to view all of the web compatible features.

Microsoft 365 Apps FAQs

What is included with Microsoft 365 Apps?

Microsoft 365 Apps is a full version of Office, which includes: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, Outlook, Skype for Business, and more. Microsoft 365 Apps also includes 1TB of OneDrive storage.

Will I be able to use Skype For Business through Microsoft 365 Apps?

Yes, students, faculty and staff are able to access Skype for Business with Microsoft 365 Apps.

I recently purchase Office 365 University. Can I be reimbursed or compensated for that?

We are unable to provide any reimbursements or compensation for students or faculty/staff who have purchased consumer versions of Microsoft 365 Apps.

Who is eligible for Microsoft 365 Apps?

Users must connect to the Internet once every 30 days to verify they are still eligible for the program.

Students who are enrolled in one or more credits at UND are eligible for Microsoft 365 Apps.

Current benefitted faculty and staff are eligible for Microsoft 365 Apps. Another option for faculty and staff is to purchase Microsoft Office for a reduced price through the Hardware & Software Procurement page.

What happens after I leave the university?

Your access to Microsoft 365 Apps will continue for a short period of time after you leave the university. When you are no longer eligible, you will still be able to access and print your files. You will not be able to install new instances of Microsoft 365 Apps and you will not be able to create/save/edit files.
