20-20-20 Rule
Digital eye strain affects people of all ages. If you spend hours a day using digital
devices, you may start to notice that your vision blurs and your eyes feel achyand
tired. Remember to blink and follow the "20-20-20" rule. Take regular breaks; every 20 minutes, shift your eyes to look at an object atleast
20 feet away,for at least 20 seconds. Learn more HERE!
Health and Wellness During the Holidays
As many begin to think about the holidays and making plans with family and friends, it's important to continue to reduce the spread of COVID-19. The CDC has put out some useful guidelines to help keep you and your family safe and happy:
Being Active During COVID-19
Whether you are working in the office or from home, there are great ways to stay physically active and socially distant to keep you safe! Finding easy ways to keep an active routine while at home will give you more energy to tackle the newfound demands in your life:
Working at Home with Kids and/or Parents
All around the United States, employees' workspaces have taken on a whole new look! Many are working from home, with children or parents by their sides. Everyone is trying to figure out their new normal, with many scratching their heads in these unchartered waters. Here are some tips to help with work out the quirks:
Prevention is Health
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) continues to study the spread and effects of COVID19 across the United States. The CDC continues to emphasize washing hands often, avoiding close contact, covering mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others, covering coughs and sneezes, cleaning and disinfecting high touch surfaces and monitoring your health. Here are some reminders on prevention:
Do's & Don'ts of Social Distancing
Do you know the do's & don'ts of social distancing? Social distancing is a term applied to certain actions that are taken by Public Health officials to stop or slow down the spread of a highly contagious disease.
Some examples of social distancing measures that would be conducted during a pandemic include:
- Public and private colleges suspending classes, going to Web-based learning and canceling all large campus meetings and gatherings.
- Public and private libraries modifying their operations and restricting people from gathering by allowing people to come in only to pick up materials that have been reserved or requested on-line or by telephone.
- Business changing company practices, setting up flexible shift plans, having employees telecommute and canceling any large meetings or conferences. Read more here. Here's a simple flyer based on that fact sheet:
Mental Health Matters
The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) may be stressful, and it can be difficult to cope. Fear and anxiety, changing daily routines, and a general sense of uncertainty may all start to add extra stress to a person. Many are teleworking full-time for the first time, isolated from co-workers, friends and family. This necessary separation can put a strain on mental health. Although people respond to stressful situations in different ways, taking steps to care for yourself and your family can help you manage stress in a healthy way. Read more:

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a confidential assessment/counseling/referral service staffed by trained professionals who can help you and members of your household with counseling services.
