Traffic Regulations
- Always yield the right of way to pedestrians
- Maintain 6 feet of separation when passing pedestrians to avoid a collision
- If unable to maintain 6 feet of separation, reduce speed to just above the average walking pace while passing
- When operating on public streets, do so in the accordance with all North Dakota and Grand Forks traffic laws
Parking Regulations
- Bicycles must always be parked in bike racks; bike racks are located outside most buildings and throughout campus
- Locking bikes to trees, railings, or sign posts is prohibited
- UND prohibits the use of bicycles inside University buildings, on any pedestrian ramps, loading docks and on rails
- Adhere to any signs posted regarding the use and parking of non-motorized vehicles
- Blocking any entrance or exit to a building is prohibited
- Parking in an stairwell, hallway or any other location that violates fire and safety regulations is prohibited
- Students residing in university residence halls or apartments should contact the Housing office for information on Housing specific bicycle policies
General Safety Guidelines
- Be aware of your surroundings
- Operate under reasonable speeds
- Operations resulting in potential hazard for persons or property is not permitted
- Pedestrian areas include any walkway, sidewalk, crosswalk, plaza court yard, patio, play court, parking facility, loading zone, or any other University facility primarily used by pedestrians
