- B.S. Early Childhood Education; UCLC teacher since 2000
- My purpose as an early childhood educator is to be a consistent, stable, nurturing, and responsive practitioner. I foster positive relationships, encourage exploration, and ensure safety while still allowing children to take some appropriate risks. I am a quiet observer. I delight in the wonder in a child’s eye as they discover something profound or learn something new. I truly have the greatest job on Earth!

- I believe it is my job as an early childhood educator to make school a fun and exciting place. Children should feel safe in my classroom to take risks and learn new things. One way to make children feel secure is to build a strong relationship with each child and their family that is based off trust. I want the children in my classroom to develop a deep love of learning.
Our children are learning like they do in a “classroom,” but they are part of a family that learns together.
Children joining a Preschool Family remain in this family with a consistent group of children and teachers. This allows each child to develop a sense of community and belonging as they learn how to get along with one another, and creating a sense of safety and security.
The Yellow Family encourages independence by allowing the children to take on tasks at their own pace.
