Resource Finder
The resource finder is a custom feature that displays information in a filtered card format.
This component combines content from various online resources that you'd like displayed and searched on a single page. Cards must be filtered by categories and searched using keywords.
SafeUND is an example of a resource finder.
Setting up a resource finder must be approved by Marketing & Communications. Please contact Aimee Halstenson to learn what's required.
How to Build a Resource Finder Component
After you have been approved to use this component, M&C will create a component and page for you in a _do-not-display folder. Your component filters and categories will be pre-set for you, but card data will be created by site owners.
Create New Resource Finder Cards
- Navigate to the data folder M&C created
- This folder should be located in the same folder as the page containing your resource finder
- Folder will be named _resource-finder-[instance name]-data
- Create a new .pcf page with the Resource Finder Card template
- Click +New
- Click Resource Finder Card
- Enter the filename using only lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens
- Example: code-of-student-life
- Do not check Overwrite Existing
- Leave the Access Group set to Inherit from Parent
- Click Create
- The resource card you just created will open
- Make sure you are on the Edit tab
- Click the green Edit Resource Card Finder in the middle of the page
- A tool bar will appear. Find the Insert Component button that looks like an atom (two
spaces right from the Snippet puzzle piece button).

- Click Insert
- Select the Resource Finder Card Component for your Resource Finder instance
- Edit Component will pop up. Fill out all the required card component fields form fields.
- Required
- Keep it succinct
- It's best for headings to be intuitive. You don't have to name it what your office if named. Name it what you think people look for. For example, SafeUND has a card named Counseling Services and explains University Counseling Center (UCC) in the card description.
- External links and documents to open to a new window

- Description of what information the resource (page/document/etc) will provide to the site visitor
- Limited to 300 characters
- No text formatting or linking is available (by design)
Display Card Contact Info
- Check Yes to show contact links configured by Group 1 and Group 2 (optional)
- If unchecking Yes to hide contact links, the Link Destination field of Group 1 will need to be filled in. Enter "#" for Link Destination. This is a workaround to an Omni CMS limitation.

Keywords are used for searching cards. These values are not visible to the end user.
- Keywords are optional and unlimited
- Separate keywords with a comma
