Accessible Parking
A permit and a disability placard or license plate are required to park in accessible spaces.
Accessible Parking Spaces
Accessible parking stalls are available in campus lots, positioned for convenient access to building entrances and pedestrian pathways. If you need assistance with locating accessible parking or have questions about space availability, please contact UND Parking Services.
Accessible Parking Eligibility
Accessible parking stalls on campus are clearly marked with ADA signs. These spaces are reserved exclusively for individuals with a valid state-issued disability placard or license plate. In addition to displaying the placard or plate, a parking permit is required to use these spaces. Valid permit options include:
- All UND Parking Permits, except for the Economy Permit & UND Apartment Permit
- Payment through the Passport Parking App for applicable hourly parking areas, using either the lot-specific zone code or the designated ADA zone code (Zone Code: 2580).
- Pay stations (valid only within the Parking Ramp)
Altru Family Medicine Residency Clinic Parking
Individuals visiting the Altru Family Medicine Residency Clinic can park in the accessible spaces in the REA SE Lot without a UND permit or Passport Parking Permit.
Rules and Enforcement
- Accessible parking spaces are enforced 24/7. A valid placard or license plate along with a permit is required.
- If using an ADA placard, the placard must be fully visible and hanging from the rear view mirror or placed on the driver's side of the dashboard. Placement of the placard in any other location will result in a citation being issued to the vehicle.
- For vehicles with a state-issued ADA plate, the plate must be unobstructed and fully visible from the parking aisle or roadway.
Accessible Parking During Events
During events, the requirement that the vehicle has a permit to park in an accessible space will not be enforced during the event for any parking lot with accessible parking that is involved with the event. Event attendees should reach out to the event organizer to determine where parking arrangements for the event have been made and the accessible parking options available to them.
For individuals attending events at the Ralph Engelstad Arena or the Chester Fritz Performing Arts Center, lot attendants will be present and direct individuals who need accessible parking to the nearest area or lot available.
Temporary Accommodations
Temporary accessible parking accommodations are available to active UND permit holders experiencing short-term mobility limitations, including those related to injury, surgery recovery, pregnancy or other accessibility accommodations.
UND Parking Services can provide up to two weeks of accommodations for general accessibility needs and up to three months for individuals in their third trimester of pregnancy. If additional time is needed, active students should reach out to UND Community Standards and Care Network, and employees should contact the UND Title IX Office to discuss extensions for their accommodations.
