Visitor Parking
Visitor parking on campus requires either a permit or hourly payment from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Each option offers flexibility based on how long you plan to stay and where you'll be parking.
Visitor Parking Permits
Daily visitor permits are available for $7 and are valid in most surface parking lots across campus as well as the parking ramp. These permits are ideal for guests staying on campus for several hours or the full day. Permits can be purchased in advance online through the UND Parking Portal or in person at the Parking Services Office.
Where Daily Permits Are Allowed
Daily visitor permits are valid in most surface lots across campus, including areas designated for:
- Employee
- Student/Employee
- Overnight/Student/Employee
- Parking Ramp
These area are marked by signs at lot entrances or on the campus map. As long as a lot or section isn't otherwise restricted (see below), a daily permit is valid.
Hourly parking is available in select areas of campus and is a convenient option for short visits.
Payment can be made using the Passport Parking App. Visitors using the Passport App should look for posted zone signage in participating parking lots.
Hourly Rates
- $1.50 for the first hour
- $1.00 for each additional hour
- $7.00 daily maximum
- $0.10 convenience fee with each transaction
How to Use Passport Parking App
Paid parking is available using a smart phone by paying with the Passport Parking app or through the Passport Parking website.
The UND parking ramp, located at the corner of Columbia Rd and Red Jarrett Way, allows visitor parking on all floors of the ramp. The ramp offers convenient access to the central part of campus, including the Memorial Union and the Chester Fritz Library.

Extended Parking
Pay stations in the ramp allow visitors to purchase parking for multiple days in advance, up to a maximum of 45 days.
Affiliate & Business Permits
An Affiliate of UND is an employee of an entity that is a recognized affiliated organization that has contractual arrangements with UND. Examples include the UND Alumni Association & Foundation, Aerospace Foundation, and Center for Innovation tenants.

The sponsoring department is required to complete the Affiliate Parking Permit Application through UND Human Resources. If an affiliate employee will need a parking permit, this must be indicated on the form under the section identifying the "Services the affiliate will be utilizing." This form will serve as approval for the affiliate to purchase a parking permit.
Purchase Affiliate Permit
After the form is submitted to Human Resources, the affiliate will receive instructions on how to claim their NDUS Account. This account provides access to the UND systems and services that were requested on the form.
Once the account has been claimed, the affiliate can log in to the UND Parking Portal to purchase a parking permit.
A vendor is defined as anyone who provides goods, services, or deliveries to the University of North Dakota but is not a UND Employee, student, or contract employee.
Common examples include companies like Coca-Cola, Pepsi, RBB Electric, Lunseth Plumbing, and Advanced Business Methods.

Where can a vendor park?
Vendors with the proper permit can park in the following areas on campus:
- Employee Only lots/zones - These are marked with an "E" for employee at the entrance or within the zone
- Employee/Student lots/zones - These are marked with an "E/S" at the entrance or within the zone
- Employee/Student/Overnight lots/zones - These are marked with an "E/S/O" at the entrance or within the zone
- Vendors can also park in stalls with a service vehicle sign for up to 60 minutes at a time. Parking longer than 60 minutes will result in a citation being issued to the vehicle.
Purchase
Vendor permits require a completed application before purchase. The vendor permit application can be obtained by emailing parking@UND.edu or stopping into the UND Parking Office located at 3791 Campus Rd. Room 100, Grand Forks, ND 58202 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Accepted payment methods include Cash/Check, Money Order, and Credit/Debit cards (American Express, Discover, Mastercard, Visa).
