Event and Visitor Parking
Visitors are always welcomed on the UND campus.
Permits and payment are required for all visitors.

Passport Parking
Paid parking is available using a smart phone by downloading the Passport Parking APP. From this app, you can select where to park and the amount of time needed.

Daily Passes
Single-day and multi-day passes are available for purchase over the phone or in the Parking Services office. Passes are $7/day or $30/week. Passes are valid in the “A” (Red), “A/S” (Pink), and “A/S/H” (Brown) zones at UND. To see where these zones can be located, visit the “Parking Maps” page.
Parking Ramp
The Parking Ramp is located on the corner of 2nd Avenue N and Columbia Road. Daily/weekly/guest passes are not valid in the parking ramp.
Parking in the ramp is pre-paid. Park in the designated pay as you go spaces. Proceed to the pay station in the 1st or 4th floor lobby of the SW tower, enter the correct license plate of vehicle (If no plate, enter last 8 digits of VIN), enter the amount of time needed to park, and then utilize payment options. No change will be given and no refunds for unused time are offered.

- $7 maximum daily charge (multi day is available)
Metered Zones
Parking in the metered lots is pay-as-you-go. The meter's time range from 30 minutes to 6 hours. Wellness Center and Airport metered zones do not allow overnight parking.
Rates
- $0.05 – 2 minutes
- $0.10 – 4 minutes
- $0.25 – 10 minutes
Weekend
Weekend visits are encouraged. Here are a few things to know before you visit UND:
- Parking lots around Ralph Engelsted Arena during event weekends are enforced.
- Event Parking lots are used during events hosted at the REA (Hockey, Concerts, etc.)
- Permits are not required during Open Parking Hours (M-F, 4 p.m.-7 a.m., Saturday and
Sunday all day), with some exceptions.
- During Open Parking times, no permit is required in the ‘A’, ‘A/S’, ‘A/S/H’, and Passport zones. To see where these zones are located, please visit the UND Parking Map.
- Overnight parking is still enforced, a Daily or Weekly permit is required in no-overnight zones (‘A/S’) if you wish to stay overnight. Contact UND Parking Services or visit our website to purchase.
- Housing Zones are enforced 24/7, to see where these areas are located, please see the Resident Housing Map.

Week
Passes are available for week long visits to campus. These passes can be purchased at UND Parking Services or by phone. Passes are valid in the “A” (Red), “A/S” (Pink), and “A/S/H” (Brown) zones at UND. To see where these zones can be located, visit the “Parking Maps” page.
*Not valid in the parking ramp, reserved spaces, meters/time zones, or visitor paylot.
Prospective Students
Upon scheduling a campus visit, visitors will receive a free guest parking pass with a map and directions to campus.
No Parking Zones
- All of Centennial Drive
- Portions of 2nd Ave North (in front of Hyslop)
- Campus Road
- Cornell Street (Starcher through Leonard)
- All other zones signed as "No Parking" across campus
Vehicles may be issued valid citations for parking in these "No Parking" zones, even if the driver remains in the vehicle. This is a safety concern for both pedestrians and emergency vehicles.
If you are picking someone up in these areas, do not stop and/or park. Please pull into the next available parking lot or driveway and stay with your vehicle.
Event Parking
Men's Hockey Games
The Ralph Engelstad Arena (REA) lot is managed by REA parking staff during games. There is no general parking on site. Additionally, there are designated event parking lots within walking distance on campus.
All permits ("A", "S", "H", etc.) are not valid in the parking lots when they are converted into an event lot.

Non-UND Events (Concerts)
REA parking staff direct traffic and collect parking fees during events. For more information regarding non-UND event parking please see the Ralph Engelstad Arena website.
- The parking lots north and south of the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center are available for parking during events at this facility.
- The lot west of the Betty requires a UND permit and is enforced M-F 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Large events may require additional parking.
- Signs will be displayed to direct vehicles to alternate lots, should the event warrant additional parking.
The Burtness, Gustafson, and Twamley parking lots may be used for Burtness Theatre event parking. For other events or additional parking details, please contact 701.777.3446.
Due to a surge in student enrollment and other exciting campus developments, event parking within walking distance of the Chester Fritz Performing Arts Center (CFPAC) is temporarily limited for the 2024-25 year. A free shuttle service will be provided for select events.
The Gorecki Alumni Center is the most versatile event space in the area. Please contact the Gorecki Alumni Center for parking associated with events held there.
The Gustafson, and Burtness Theatre parking lots may be used for Hopper-Danley events. Signs will be displayed identifying the lots reserved for each event.
Pay-as-you-go parking in the parking ramp is used for most Hyslop events. Signs will be displayed to direct traffic to any other parking area designated for a Hyslop event.
- The UND Memorial Union (MU) provides access to space for meetings and special events sponsored by UND campus community groups and non-UND groups or third-party entities. The MU is committed to providing a quality customer event planning experience for every client for every event.
- Hourly Passport Parking is available to support the MU in the Parking Ramp.
- Large events may require additional parking. Signs will be displayed to direct vehicles to alternate lots, should the event warrant additional parking. Please submit an Event Parking Request Form to make these arrangements 2 weeks prior to event.
Signs will be displayed identifying the lots reserved for special North Dakota Museum of Art events. Typically, the Twamley, and, Gustafson parking lots may be used for museum event parking. If there are no signs displayed designating parking for a museum event, normal university parking regulations are enforced.
Weekday events may require alternate parking. Please consult the museum for additional information.
The University of North Dakota Bookstore parking lot may be used for soccer event parking.
Moving into the residence halls and University apartments is a very busy weekend. Pleas follow the traffic procedure map as it will help you in moving into your new residence.
