Student parking permits depend on whether you live on-campus or off-campus.
Student Living On-Campus
Students living in residence halls or apartments who wish to park must have a valid annual parking permit. Different permit options are available dependent on where you live.
These residence halls are located on the west side of campus near Wilkerson Dining Center & Commons. Students assigned to these halls share the same designated residential hall parking lots and permit options. The permits offered allow 24/7 parking in the assigned residential hall lot and vehicles do not need to be moved unless directed by UND Parking Services or UND Housing.
Residence Hall permit holders are allowed to park in their residence hall lot as well as the following student lots:

Swanson Hall is located on the east side of campus next to the Memorial Union. Students living in Swanson hall have the option between purchasing a permit for the parking ramp or a nearby surface lot. Each permit allows 24/7 parking in an assigned lot, students do not need to move their vehicle unless directed by UND Parking Services or UND Housing.

Columbia Overnight
Valid for only the Columbia Overnight Permits. When parking on campus, if you have purchased the Columbia Lot Overnight Permit look for the sign to confirm that you are in the correct overnight zone for your permit.
University Place located on the west side of campus near the Chester Fritz Performing Arts Center. Students living at University Place have the option between two permits. Each permit includes 24/7 parking in an assigned overnight lot, students do not need to move their vehicle unless directed by UND Parking Services or UND Housing.

- This permit allows parking in apartment lots only.
- If you need to park in other campus lots between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. (e.g., near academic buildings), you must also purchase either a student or employee permit. This second permit allows access to commuter-designated areas during daytime hours.

Student Living Off-Campus
Students who travel to the UND campus regularly must purchase a valid parking permit and park in designated lots. Different permit options are available to meet your needs.
Off-campus student permits will not sell out.
The student permit allows access to the majority of surface lots on the UND Campus where an 'S' sign is located at the lot entrance or zone. The student permit is not valid in the Parking Ramp, Student Reserved parking lots/zones, 24/7 lots/zones (marked 'O') or anywhere on campus between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m.

The student reserved permit allows parking access for students in the Harvard Lot and the Student Reserved zone of the Columbia Lot. It also includes access to all surface lots that allow student parking on campus (marked with 'S'). The reserved student permit is not valid in the Parking Ramp, the 24/7 Overnight Zones (marked 'O') or anywhere on campus between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m.

Student Reserve Permit Sign
The parking ramp permit allows access to all levels of the Parking Ramp, except for the west side of the 1st floor, located off of Red Jarret Way (formerly 2nd Ave N.) and Columbia Rd.
The permit also includes access to all surface lots on the UND Campus that allow student parking (marked 'S').
This permit is not valid in the Student Reserved lots/zones or the 24/7 Overnight lots/zones (marked 'O'). Overnight parking is permitted in the ramp with a valid parking ramp permit.

The Overnight (24/7) permits allow students to park in a designated lot or zone based on the specific permit purchased. There are three overnight zones, and each permit is valid only in its assigned lot or zone.

The Economy Lot permit offers a budget-friendly alternative to the standard commuter permit, providing access to a single designated lot on campus. This permit is ideal for students who are looking to save on parking costs and are comfortable with a longer walk to their destination.
Permit holders can also take advantage of the campus shuttle, which stops at the UND Bookstore and provides transportation closer to their classes on campus. The economy lot is monitored and enforced like all campus lots, and the permit is only valid in the assigned lot.
