Unpaid Citations
Ignoring a parking citation does not make it go away. Unpaid citations can result in account holds, delays in receiving diplomas and transcripts, and enforcement actions. These actions apply to all students, faculty, staff, affiliates, and visitors to the UND Campus.
What happens If You Don't Pay
Account Holds
Current students of UND will not be able to register for classes once the outstanding balance in Campus Connection is $750 or above. This can include any combination of charges and is not limited to just Parking fees. Students graduating will not be issued a diploma or official transcripts for any outstanding balance. A balance of $100 or more may be sent to a collection agency after 90 days.
Tuition Waivers
UND full time benefited faculty and staff looking to file a tuition waiver for themselves or for a qualified family member, are required to not have any charge in Campus Connection that is considered overdue at the time of the waiver being submitted. An overdue charge is considered to be more than $10 and over 30 days old.
Vehicle Immobilization
Once a vehicle reaches at least $60 in unpaid citations and there is no owner to the vehicle in UND Parking's system, the vehicle can be booted the next time it is found in violation on UND property. For vehicles that are linked to a current or former student, faculty, staff member, affiliate or visitor the dollar amount is $100 in unpaid citations.
Once a vehicle is booted a $30 boot fee will be applied to the existing unpaid citation balance total. In order for the vehicle to be released all citations including the boot fee must be paid in full. Removal of immobilization devices without payment will result in additional fines and penalties. If a vehicle remains booted for 7 days and the owner has not reached out to Parking Services additional action may be taken.

DMV Record Lookup
Once a vehicle reaches $60 in unpaid citations and does not have an owner linked to the vehicle. UND Parking Services may pursue a national DMV record lookup to identify the vehicle's owner. Once identified UND Parking Services will mail a letter of the outstanding balance that must be paid.
There is no due date that a payment is required on a citation. However the following do apply:
- You have 14 days to submit an appeal on the citation
- If the current amount of unpaid citations reaches the level to be immobilized, your vehicle may be immobilized the next time it's found in violation.
