Off-Campus Student Parking Permits
Students who travel to the UND campus regularly must purchase a valid parking permit to park in designated surface lots.
- Students living in an on-campus apartment through UND Housing also need a permit to park outside of their designated apartment lots.
- All student permits are annual and valid from August 16, 2025 to August 15, 2026. The cost of the permits prorate automatically if purchased later in the year. Permit availability may be limited based on lot capacity.
- Student parking passes are available for purchase starting July 30, 2025 at 8 a.m. CT.
- Off-campus student permits will not sell out.

Student Permit
The student permit allows access to the majority of surface lots on the UND Campus where an 'S' sign is located at the lot entrance or zone. The student permit is not valid in the Parking Ramp, Student Reserved parking lots/zones, 24/7 lots/zones (marked 'O') or anywhere on campus between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m.

Student Reserved Permit
The student reserved permit allows parking access for students in the Harvard Lot and the Student Reserved zone of the Columbia Lot. It also includes access to all surface lots that allow student parking on campus (marked with 'S'). The reserved student permit is not valid in the Parking Ramp, the 24/7 Overnight Zones (marked 'O') or anywhere on campus between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m.

Parking Ramp
The parking ramp permit allows access to all levels of the Parking Ramp, except for the west side of the 1st floor, located off of Red Jarret Way (formerly 2nd Ave N.) and Columbia Rd. The permit also includes access to all surface lots on the UND Campus that allow student parking (marked 'S'). This permit is not valid in the Student Reserved lots/zones or the 24/7 Overnight lots/zones (marked 'O'). Overnight parking is permitted in the ramp with a valid parking ramp permit.

Overnight (24/7) Permits
The Overnight (24/7) permits allow students to park in a designated lot or zone based on the specific permit purchased. There are three overnight zones, and each permit is valid only in its assigned lot or zone.
In addition to the overnight access, all Overnight (24/7) permits include daytime parking access to five surface lots across campus:

- SMHS SW Lot
- EERC Lot
- James Ray Drive S Lot
- Airport Lot
This permit is ideal for students who need to flexibility for both overnight and daytime campus access. Be sure to check your permit to confirm your assigned overnight lot before parking.

Economy Lot Permit
The Economy Lot permit offers a budget-friendly alternative to the standard commuter permit, providing access to a single designated lot on campus. This permit is ideal for students who are looking to save on parking costs and are comfortable with a longer walk to their destination. Permit holders can also take advantage of the campus shuttle, which stops at the UND Bookstore and provides transportation closer to their classes on campus. The economy lot is monitored and enforced like all campus lots, and the permit is only valid in the assigned lot.

Students who live off campus and drive to campus regularly have several parking options available, including economy, student, student reserved, ramp and 24/7 access along with the daily permit. The total cost of each option can vary significantly depending on how often a student parks on campus and how long they need parking access.
Parking services has provided a cost break down on the cost of the permits for parking from 1 to 5 days on campus for 35-weeks and 52-weeks. Even students who park on campus just 1-3 days per week may find a permit more economical than daily permits. The more you park, the lower your average cost per day - compared to $7/day for a daily permit.

Student Permit Proration & Refund Information
Student permits automatically prorates price on the 1st and 16th of each month starting on September 16, 2026.
Refund Eligibility
Refunds for permits are available for students who no longer need their permit during the year. The refunded amount will be based on the following criteria:
- Permits purchased and refunded before August 16, 2025 will be given a refund for the purchased price
- Permits purchased or refunded from August 16, 2025 to April 15, 2026 are eligible for a refund until April 30, 2026. Refunds will follow an established price proration and refund schedule.
- Permits purchased on or after April 16, 2026 will be refunded 50% of the purchased value if refunded within 2 weeks of the purchased date.
If you no longer need your permit, please contact UND Parking Services in writing with the following information:
- Name
- NDUS ID
- Date that you no longer need access
Once the refund request is received and processed, the permit will be deactivated and the vehicles that the permit were associated with will no longer be able to be parked in the areas associated with that permit.
