Design Standards
Facilities has specific Design Guidelines for all remodels and new construction.
Design Guidelines are intended to identify the standards and preferences of UND Facility Management and Planning Design Construction (PDC) and are applied to all remodels and new construction at the University of North Dakota. They are broken down into the following sections:
- Design Narratives: These convey UND design requirements and preferences to design A/E firms.
- Design Specifications: These are to be used for both internal and externally designed projects. The A/E firm shall be responsible for incorporating these into the project contract documents as well as any deletes/edits/additions required to tailor them to project specific requirements.
Design Guidelines
Every effort has been made to ensure that these Design Guidelines reflect sound design and engineering principles. However, if any A/E firm finds that the application of any of these Design Guidelines is inappropriate to their project, please notify the UND PM in writing. The existence of these Design Guidelines does not relieve the design A/E firm from any contractually obligated professional responsibilities.
