Business Charges Committee
No individual unit or person can decide to charge a constituent without the approval of the Business Charges Committee or its designee.
UND is very aware of the pressures to keep student debt manageable and to offer its services at a fair and reasonable cost to its constituents. As part of a holistic view to charges, this policy provides direction yet offers flexibility for pop-up type events and services.
The Business Charges Committee (formerly the Fee Committee) is charged with reviewing all charges from a UND strategic view. Most expenses related to earning a degree should be factored in as part of the tuition charge, whether base or differential tuition. Only specialized equipment or training should be requested as a potential additional fee charge.
Any violations of this policy can result in discipline up to and including termination in accordance with North Dakota University System and UND Human Resource policies.
About the Committee
The committee is made up of three vice presidents appointed by position: vice president for academic affairs, vice president for finance and operations, and vice president for student affairs.
Policy
All University of North Dakota (UND) fees assessed to students, faculty, staff, and the community will be reviewed by the appropriate authority to ensure they fit within the philosophical and strategic direction of the University. The Business Charges Committee, unless otherwise designated, is the authority for approving all charges originating from the University and its affiliates. No individual unit or a person can decide to charge or revise a charge to a constituent without the approval of the Business Charges Committee of its designee.
