Resources for Pregnant and Parenting Students and Employees
In compliance with Title IX, Title VII, and other state and federal laws, UND prohibits discrimination against students and employees (including student employees and graduate assistants) because of their pregnancy or parental status. In addition, UND supports its pregnant and parenting students and employees by providing appropriate accommodations, along with support for nursing mothers.

Pregnancy Adjustments
Adjustments are available to students and employees for pregnancy and pregnancy-related conditions. Pregnancy-related conditions may include, but are not limited to, childbirth, termination of pregnancy, and lactation.
Students and student employees who need assistance with academic adjustments or work-place adjustments related to pregnancy or childbirth may contact the Equal Opportunity & Title IX Office to learn about their options. Examples of common adjustments include but are not limited to physical changes to a classroom or workspace (such as a larger chair or desk), excused absences, or break time for lactation.
UND cannot require a pregnant student to accept pregnancy adjustments unless required by state or federal law. If a student informs a UND employee of their pregnancy status, the employee is encouraged to provide the student with the Title IX coordinator’s contact information and advise them that the coordinator can work with them to ensure equal access to education programs and activities.
Other employees should contact Human Resources to learn about workplace adjustments, family medical leave, and other options that may be available.
Applicants for employment should contact Human Resources to request pregnancy-related adjustments in the interview process.
Lactation Support
UND provides a number of resources for lactation support, including lactation rooms and time away from work to express breast milk.
Pregnant Parking
Pregnant students and employees may be eligible for preferred parking. You may request a parking adjustment from Parking Services through the special temporary parking request form.
