LGBTQ+ Employee Resources
Discrimination and harassment have no place at UND.
UND is committed to supporting our LGBTQ+ employees, including transgender and gender non-binary employees. Resources for LGBTQ+ students can be found at the Pride Center.
Discrimination and harassment on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression are prohibited by UND's Discrimination and Harassment Policy. If you feel you have been treated unfairly, Equal Opportunity & Title IX staff can help you understand your options and the support and resolution resources available for you.
Retaliation in any form against a person who reports discrimination or participates in the investigation of discrimination is strictly prohibited and will be grounds for separate disciplinary action.

Gender Inclusive Restrooms
Gender inclusive restrooms are located across campus. Many are designated as single user.
Changing Your Name
Students and employees have the option to provide a preferred name that will appear in UND systems instead of their on-file legal name.
To change your NDUS.identifier/username, please call UND Tech Support at 701.777.2222. You should be ready to provide three variations of what you would like your username to be (e.g. john.doe; john.h.doe; john.doe2). You do not need to do a legal name change to change the first name in your NDUS.identifier/username.
To change your last name or submit a legal name change, go to the Payroll Services office with your new Social Security card to complete the Name Change form.
Health-Related Services and Resources
Confidential Counseling
Employees can seek confidential counseling for themselves and members of their household through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). UND’s EAP is managed through The Village Family Service Center. When you or members of your household contact the Village, a trained professional will assess the situation and provide the assistance needed to resolve it. This may include personal contacts with the counselor and/or referral to a specially trained professional. All contact with the Village is confidential.
Employees may contact The Village at 1.800.627.8220. They may also view the members-only website and resources by using the password VillageEAP.
Insurance and FMLA
UND offers medical health insurance coverage to benefited employees. To determine if insurance will cover procedures and treatments related to transitioning, please reach out to Sanford Health directly to discuss your particular situation at 800.499.3416. If you have questions about enrolling in UND's health insurance plan, please contact Human Resources & Payroll Services.
Eligible employees may be entitled to leave under the Family Medical Leave Act for absences associated with transitioning. Please contact Human Resources & Payroll Services to discuss this option.
Voice Therapy
Northern Praire Community Clinic, located in Columbia Hall on campus, offers voice therapy for transgender individuals.
