Citation Violations and Fines
UND Parking issues citations to help ensure that parking spaces remain available for permit holders and that campus regulations are followed. In some cases, a warning notice may be issued instead of a fine.
Parking Violations and Fine Amounts

| No Permit Linked to Vehicle | When a vehicle is parked in UND parking lot without a valid parking permit present. | $40 |
| No Payment | When a vehicle is parking in a pay to park space/area without a valid payment | $20 |
| Parked In Hash Marks | When a vehicle, that is not a motorcycle, is parked within a hash marked area of a parking. | $20 |
| Parked in multiple spaces | When a vehicle is parked in a manner that prevents another vehicle from parking in an adjacent space. | $20 |
| Parked Overnight | When a vehicle is parked in a parking lot that does not allowing parking between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. unless prior arrangements have been made with UND Parking Services | $20 |
| Repeat Offender | When a vehicle has 10 valid citations against them in a single permit year | $80 |
| Parked in Fire Lane | When a vehicle is parked in area of a parking lot that is signed as 'Fire Lane' (curb and/or signs) | $20 |
| No Parking Zone (Blocking Traffic/Sidewalk) | When a vehicle is parked in an area of a parking lot that is signed as 'No Parking'. | $20 |
| Beyond Row | When a vehicle is parked beyond the designated row of parking stalls | $20 |
| Parking on Grass/Lawn/Sidewalk | When a vehicle is parked on grass/lawn or the sidewalk on UND Property without prior authorization from UND Parking Services. | $20 |
| Decoy Citation | When a vehicle is displaying an old citation or a piece a paper that resembles a citation issued by UND Parking Services. | $30* |
| Parked Other Than Assigned | When a vehicle is parked in a lot or area that their permit is not valid in | $40 |
| Handicapped Zone | When a vehicle is parked in an ADA parking stall without a state issued ADA placard/plate | $100 |
| Permit Sharing | When two or more vehicles that are listed under one permit are parked on campus at the same time. | $50/per vehicle |
| Abandoned/Inoperable Vehicle | Issued to vehicles that either are or appear to be inoperable or that have been abandoned on the UND Campus | $20 |
| Counterfeit/Forged Permit | When a vehicle is displaying a fake, forged, or counterfeit permit | $100* |
| Altered/Stolen Permit | When a vehicle is found in possession of a reportedly stolen permit | $100* |
| Exceeded Timed Limit | When a vehicle is parked in a timed zone for longer than the time allows on the posted sign | $20 |
| Failure to Comply | When a vehicle is not in compliance with UND Parking Regulations. This can include plate not facing the drive lane of the parking lot, covering the VIN, etc. | $30 |
| No Event Payment | When a vehicle is parked in a parking lot designated for event usage without paying or a permit. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Citations are eligible to be appealed for 14 calendars days after the date the citation was issued. Please refer to appealing a citation for more information.
Payments for a citation can be handled online, in person, over the phone, or by mail. Please see paying a citation for more information
Citations that remain unpaid can result in either academic holds or additional enforcement actions by Parking Services.
If the vehicle was a rental or loaner vehicle, you will be responsible for any citations issued when you had the vehicle.
If you sold the vehicle and it is no longer in your name. Please contact parking services with proof of the sale to have the vehicle and citation removed from your account.
